Hi, all! Just wanted to bring a few things to your attention.
First of all, The Real Potato is growing! Our traffic has just about doubled in the last week or so. Welcome to all you new readers out there in InterWebLand!
The big benefit to this is that I’ve been hearing from more and more people who are actively cooking, eating, and spreading the word about real food. There’s a community out there! I’ve met Jennie from Straight From the Farm (in real life, imagine that!) and discovered more like-minded neighbors like the PhillyFoodGuys. I’ve joined the Foodie Blogroll, an extensive food blogging community run by the Leftover Queen, and have heard from all sorts of folks. The Potato has now been featured on WordPress’s homepage several times, and we’re also getting some love from sites like Reddit, Hugg and IndianPad (thanks, mbjesq!).
We’ve also added new features, like restaurant reviews, book reviews, and a Submit a Recipe feature.
So what can you do to support your friendly local Potato? Weeeell…
I’ve added buttons to each post for newsfeed users to submit anything you find interesting. Digg, Reddit, Del.icio.us and Stumbleupon users, please, go crazy.
We’re also nominated for a Blogger’s Choice Award– click here to cast your vote. (You have to register, but endless love to all you folks who take a minute to vote. It’s your civic duty, ya’ll!)
And finally: the Real Potato is still a small potato, but we’re working on growing up, into a serious resource for foodies, home cooks, working parents, and anyone who wants the next generation of kids to grow up knowing what real food tastes like. To do that, we’d like to buy our domain name and customize our code, but that’s not cheap. If you’d like to provide material support to the Real Potato, bless your generous heart, Wordpress.com users can purchase gift credits by clicking on “Upgrade” and “Gifts.” I’ve asked WordPress support if there’s a URL for non-Wordpress users to use– I’ll keep you posted.
Thanks, and much love to you all, dear readers!
